THE TRUMP EFFECT: "NEXT YEAR "ENTITLEMENTS!""

HOUSE SPEAKER PAUL RYAN: "WE'LL TAKE UP "ENTITLEMENT REFORM" NEXT YEAR"

First, make no mistake about it.  "Entitlement Reform" is to Paul Ryan like Green Eggs and Ham is to Dr. Seuss.  Second, the term "Reform" in Paul Ryanspeak, can be translated into ""Destruction" with not a scintilla of hesitation.  Let's remember that the House and Senate just passed the "Tax Reform Act" which isn't really about reforming anything but is a giant giveaway to corporations, political donor fat cats and the already rich at the expense of us ordinary Americans.  This is nothing new.  Republicans have been screwing America's working and middle classes for decades now.  The results?  Well, how about the fact that family income, adjusted for inflation,  has been flat for 30 years.  (And "flat" means "loss" in this case.)  The cost of a college education has skyrocketed and students are saddled with life altering debt.  (In 1980 state university costs were financed nearly two thirds - 60% - by pubic taxpayer funds.   Today it's less than 30% and continues to decline.)  Back in 1980 your average CEO earned around 40 times what your average factory slug worker made.  Today it's nearly 400 times.  Thanks to Ronald Reagan, union membership has declined from a high of 35% in the 1950's to less than 10% today.  (Union jobs were key stepping stones to achieving the American Dream.  Today the American Dream depends on winning the PowerBall lottery.)

I'm not sure why Ryan has such a hard on for "Entitlement Reform" (he's had it for years)  but this has been his mantra ever since he was elected to Congress.  But the facts of the matter is that Social Security and Medicare are not Federal taxpayer "giveaways" by any stretch of the imagination.  If you receive a weekly or bi-weekly paycheck, you might have noticed one of the boxes about the money deducted from your pay even before you get it, is labelled "FICA" which roughly translated means "Federal Insurance Contribution Act."  In fact, the Gubment takes 6.2% of your salary to fund Social Security (up to a cap of $127,200) and 1.45% of your salary - with no upper limit -  to fund Medicare.  And, as a further dip into the real world out here that we live in and Speaker Ryan does not, the folks we work for, our employers (the boss) also pays into both Social Security and Medicare at the same rates we do thus matching our payments.  And, if you are obeying the law,  you are required to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for your illegal immigrant nanny whom you pay weekly.  Same goes for the self-employed.

Oh My God!  So then, you ask in total astonishment, do you mean to tell me that Social Security and Medicare are actually funded by you and me and our employers and aren't just some massive boondoggle of a Gubment giveaway?  No shit, right?  But if you listen to Paul Ryan and the rest of the Republican traitors in Congress, one would think that both programs are ginormous slush funds that we the people are using to buy that third SUV or that tony vacation home in the Hamptons.  Well, I can tell you from my personal experience (you know, reality) that my monthly Social Security check doesn't cover even half of my monthly rent.  Now I suppose if I lived in Washburn, North Dakota, or Thermopolis, Wyoming, I could get by on Social Security alone but here in D.C. or virtually any other decent sized city, no way.  Just not possible.

When Paul Ryan utters the term "reform" (keep in mind the disastrous "Tax Reform Act") he doesn't mean upping the cap ($127,200) on Social Security withholding or scrapping the cap altogether and lowering the percentage rate of withholding (like with Medicare).  No.  What he's talking about is privatizing Social Security making it like your 401(k) account, for example, that you invest in stocks, bonds and mutual funds.  Wall Street, in other words.  But remember what happened to your 401(k) in 2008 with the world wide economic collapse?  Think this can't happen again?

And by the way, Medicare isn't free health care for those of us who are over 65.  We still have to pay the balances that Medicare doesn't cover.  How do I know this?  Well, I have a stack of bills right next to my computer from various of my health care providers as a result of an operation last spring.

FICA Huh!  Wow!  So the Gubmnet actually takes money from me to finance my own retirement and old age health care.  Who Knew?  Right?  Well, apparently Paul Ryan doesn't know this fact or he doesn't care.  I'm betting on the latter.

DON'T LET REPUBLICANS DO THIS TO US THIS YEAR OR NEXT YEAR OR EVER!

Have A Good Day!
